3/9/14 From Steve Melander..."Lake remains at full capacity.  Water temps are rising and fish should be making beds soon.  Spring here is a fishing is good.  Warm temps coming.  Anglers report catching fish all over the lake on all techniques.  Member's tournament is on 3/22/14.  Meet at the ramp at 6:00 AM".

2/17/14 From Steve Melander..."Lake remains at full capacity.  Water is stained in color and averaged 56 degrees.  Post frontal conditions with lots of wind.  Caught a couple on a jig and then went to the dropshot and caught a bunch.  Fish were healthy and feisty."  Deep water access seemed to be the key."

1/25/14 From Steve Melander..."Lake is at full capacity and fish are healthy.  Fish are the healthiest I've seen in many years.  Two fish landed in the first month of the year larger than any fish landed in 2013.  Caught several nice hard-fighting largies today on jigs.  Fish were up shallow first thing and then moved out to deeper water."

1/22/14 From Jon Kelsey..."Andrew Viloria caught the new lake record at 10AM today in the middle of the lake on a swimbait.  I witnessed the entire event and helped him weight it 3 times! It weighed in at 16 pounds 12 ounces."

1/6/14 From Steve Melander..."Member Andrew Viloria reports catching 10 fish shallow and deep on jigs including this 12.4 pound monster".

2013 Fishing Reports

12/29/13 From Clif Givens..."On the 29th. of December we caught 5 fish from 1.5 to 3 pounds on various colored spinnerbaits.  My grandson Caleb managed to catch his very first largemouth bass ever in the middle of the lake. He did everything but lip the fish into the boat".

12/16/13 From Steve Melander..."The lake is down a few feet, still in need of some serious rain.  Water temp is averaging 53 to 54 degrees.  Jigs and soft plastics catching fish.  Swimbait bite will pick up soon."

10/19/13 From Steve Melander..."The lake is at full capacity.  Members are reporting that the crankbait bite is starting to turn on.  As the fish start to feed heavy in preparation for winter that bite will only get better."

8/10/13 From Steve Melander..."The lake is nice and full and the fish are healthy.  Reports of big fish are coming in.  Member caught a 9.1 spinnerbait fish.  Another report of a 25 to 26 pound 5 fish limit including a 7 and a 5 1/2 pounder in that limit.  Fish are being caught on plastics, topwater and reaction baits like crankbaits and spinnerbaits.  With the weather changes and temperature fluctuations some days that bite is really good and others can be slow.  The frog bite is there but you just have to be patient.  A few reported punching the pads for some nice fish."

6/15/13 From Steve Melander..
."Summer is here and the topwater action is in full swing.  Members / visitors are reporting a good crankbait bite as well.  One report mentioned that 40 to 50 fish caught all on crankbaits and several in the 4 to 5 pound range.  Soft plastics continue to work.  The frog bite is just around the corner."

5/17/13 From Carmin Rosato..."I was reminded yesterday just how great your fishery is.  It was an overcast, windy morning and I got off the lake at 11:30 am after catching 58 bass.  All but 2 were between 2.5 and 4 pounds.  Caught 18 on topwater off wind protected banks, and the other 40 on crankbaits off windblown banks.  Never got a chance to check out the deeper water."

5/11/13 From Steve Melander...
"Members report that the fish have been very active.  You can catch them just about any way you choose.  Topwater bite is picking up as well.  Now is a good time to hit the lake."

4/19/13 From Tony Delgado...
"I had an awesome morning.  I fished for about 5 hours and landed about 16 fish.  Average was 3 to 4 pounds.  However, just before I headed home I landed a 6 pound bass that was very nice and healthy on a white spinnerbait."

3/23/13 From Steve Melander...
"Today we had the 1st. Annual Art Dagemijian Memorial / Kelsey Bass Ranch Member's Tournament. We had a total of 10 boats.  This was a 3 fish limit tournament.  All teams brought in a limit.  First Place went to the team of Steve Mendes and Brian Bertolotti with a 6 pound big fish and a 14 pound 9 ounce limit.  Second Place went to the team of Steve Melander and Chad Smith with a 5 pound 2 ounce big fish and a 12 pound 7 ounce limit.  Third Place went to the team of David Cox and Captain Mickey Brunelli with a 5 pound 2 ounce big fish and a 12 pound 1 ounce limit.  The weather was great and the lake is at full capacity. Fish were caught using all different methods from the bank to the middle of the lake.  The fish were in all stages of the spawn.  An enormous 2 pound 1 ounce sunfish was brought to the scales as well.  Fish was caught on a dropshot in deep water.  After weigh-ins the members were treated to an old fashioned Kelsey Family BBQ consisting of Tri Tip, Beans, Salad, Garlic Bread, and Carrot Cake.  The fishing was good but the food was great!  Immediately following the awards there was a special dedication to Art Dagemijian Family where a tree was planted and a memorial plaque was placed.  It was a very special day in honor of a very special man.  I was honored to be able to be a part of it.  Can't wait for next year."

1/6/13 From Steve Melander..."Today we had the 2nd. Annual Berserk Baits / Bigfoot's Western BBQ Co.
